HISTORICAL RECORD — CONSUMER & LANDSCAPE

Deco Marble Chips and Georgia Marble's Consumer Products

Alongside its dimension-stone and industrial-minerals businesses, Georgia Marble Company historically organized a Consumer product group. This group sold ground and processed marble and lime products — Deco Marble Chips among them — for landscape, garden, and home use. The record below describes those product lines as they existed; it is a historical account, not a current catalogue.

Deco Marble Chips, Deco Pebbles and Deco Lava

Deco Marble Chips, Deco Pebbles, and Deco Lava were sold as landscape mulch, decoration, accent material, and walkway surfacing. As processed marble and lava products marketed for garden and grounds use, they offered an alternative to organic mulch for beds, borders, and pathways. The Deco line drew on the same quarried marble that supplied Georgia Marble's dimension-stone and industrial businesses, put to a different use — decorative and functional groundcover rather than building material.

Pool Mix

Pool Mix was a ground marble aggregate that, blended with white Portland cement, produced a swimming-pool plaster finish. It was also offered in a black formulation. The product paired Georgia Marble's ground calcium-carbonate expertise — developed for its industrial-minerals business — with a specific consumer application: the plaster surface of residential and commercial pools.

Deco Lawnlime and Lime-Rite

Deco Lawnlime and Lime-Rite were pelletized lime products sold for lawn and garden soil treatment. Both were formulated to neutralize acidic soil and add magnesium, functions aimed at the home lawn-care and gardening market rather than at construction or industry. As with the Deco line, these products applied the company's marble and mineral processing to a consumer rather than architectural or industrial end use.

Royalty in Stone

Royalty in Stone was a consumer brand name used by Georgia Marble Company. It survives in the archive record by name only; no product description for it has survived in the material reviewed for this site. It is recorded here as part of the company's consumer product history, pending further documentation.

How These Products Reached Customers

Georgia Marble's consumer and landscape products were historically sold through a mix of channels: company representatives, distributors, dealers, the company's own stone centres, and national home centres. This distribution pattern placed Deco Marble Chips, Pool Mix, and the lawn-care lines alongside other home and garden products in general retail, rather than limiting them to specialty stone or building-materials trade.
